13) Where do I find someone to play against?

The Snooker newsgroup alt.sport.snooker is a good starting place to find people in your area to play against. Check out our regional club list to find a club near you. If you join a club, you'll soon find yourself making friends with other members. Practising alone on the table next to the bar normally guarantees that someone will ask you for a game.

You will occasionally strike gold with some clubs. If you're serious about snooker or pool then you can indeed make friends playing it. If you're not that serious, then you can usually get existing friends to come along.

If you really are struggling to find someone to play against, have a chat to the club manager who might alert you to anyone else he knows of finding trouble looking for a snooker or pool buddy. If your club's particularly quiet, then it might be worth looking for another club. There's usually one big, busy club in every reasonably-sized town or city.
